This is NOT hobby sewing. These are professional methods taught in a supportive, step-by-step format—so beginners don’t feel overwhelmed and advanced students continue to level up.
What you can expect in 3 weeks (real outcomes):
• Cleaner, straighter stitching and better machine control
• Correct pressing, seam accuracy, and professional finishing habits
• Stronger fit awareness (why garments pull, twist, or gap—and how to fix it)
• Pattern understanding that supports real garment construction
• A clear next-step pathway if you continue into future semesters
Returning students: Bring what you’ve already started—Mr. Stiles will help you refine it with higher-level technique, better accuracy, and professional construction standards.

Bring to every class: A working sewing machine + foot pedal, and navy-blue all-purpose thread.

Professional Sewing, Tailoring & Garment Construction Training From Absolute Beginners to Advanced Designers
Guided by our enduring philosophy and global mission—
“Teaching the World to Sew & Design at a Professional Level.” (Scroll for details)
With a teaching legacy dating back to 1989, Mr. Stiles’ fashion training programs are offered at three established locations—Oak Park, Palos Hills, and Joliet—and attract dedicated students from across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana who are seeking true professional garment-construction skills, not hobby-based instruction.
The methods taught reflect professional standards and techniques that are rarely accessible outside serious training environments. Students at all levels are welcome, from complete beginners who have never touched a sewing machine to advanced sewers and designers refining fit, precision, and high-level technique.
Instruction is intentionally structured to meet students where they are, while guiding them through a clear, progressive pathway toward industry-level execution and understanding.
Each program is deliberately designed to produce measurable, career-relevant outcomes: controlled precision sewing, accurate fit, advanced garment construction, and professional tailoring methods.
Classes meet 6:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. in Room 2002, Building T. Enrollment is intentionally limited so students receive focused guidance and real skill improvement each session.
Students gain the ability to work with confidence and intention—eliminating guesswork and developing skills that support career advancement, entrepreneurial pursuits, and long-term mastery.
To preserve the depth and quality of instruction, enrollment is intentionally limited by design. Programs reach capacity, with waiting lists forming prior to session start. Many students continue for multiple semesters, advancing through progressively higher levels of training as part of a sustained professional development path.
