ORDER OF WORK
Basic Sewing / Tailoring Class:

Marking & Cutting A Garment
The amount of time that is required to complete any of our projects, is totally controlled by
you, the designer. In this and in all of our classes you will move at your own pace. You can
progress as fast as you would like. As long as each project is done neatly and correctly.

We will show you the correct operation and usage of the sewing machine. Then, you
will start your first set of sewing machine stitch drills for practice. Basic marking,
measuring and cutting skills, will be demonstrated, then it is your turn. Next, you
will learn how to stitch your first seam, there are a total of four.

  • Plain
  • Lapped
  • Double Stitched
  • French

  • Next, you will start the first set of the 3 differnt pockets, that you must make.
Then you will practice hand stitches. They will be made onto a stitch pad. There are
two stitch pads that must be completed. After completing the first three of the hand
stitches, you will then start your second set of pockets.

If the first set of pockets have been completed, hand stitches are needed to
construct the remainding 2 types of pockets.

  • Watch
  • Side
  • Quarter Top

  • NOTE !
The Back Pocket Or The Double Welt Pocket Will Be
Taught In On Of Our Fashion Related Seminar.

Two pockets of each set are required, before you will progress onto the next pocket.
There are 7 seven total different types of hand stitches you will learn. After completing
the first three hand stitches you will begin the second pocket. You will make the last four
stitches, only when they are needed in the construction of your garment.

  • Overcast
  • Baste
  • Halfback
  • Felling
  • Bar Tack
  • Fullback
  • Chain

  • After finishing all the 3 sets of pockets, it is then and only then, do you start your
first garment, a pair of pants or a skirt. At completion of this garment, you
will move onto other garments. Each of these other garments, a pattern must have been made
and tested, before a garment can be made from it.

Full detailed, step by step, instructions for the
construction of each garment is always given.

But you must make the pattern for any garment,
in our Pattern Drafting class. We will teach you how to make the
patterns in the pattern drafting class.

    ORDER OF DRAFTS
    Pattern Making (drafting) Class:

    Making A Sample Garment
You will receive training in the usage of the Tailor's Quarter Size Square and the Curved
Ruler. These are the instruments used to draft the pattern. Then you will start with formulas
and techniques used in the drafting of patterns. Taking proper measurements, will be taught
by the instructor. The full scale instruments will be explained, when it is time to use them.

Starting of your first pattern draft, which is a skirt pattern. Continuing of the
skirt draft until complete. When you finish your quarter sized skirt pattern, you will start a full
scale one for a friend or yourself. Each pattern always starts with the quarter size,
then moves up to the full scale, ALWAYS!

    NOTE !
Full detailed instructions for the construction of each garment will be
given ONLY in the SEWING & CONSTRUCTION classes.

Here is the correct order used in the drafting of our patterns:
  • Regular Skirt
  • Flair Skirt
  • Pants
  • Shirt & Blouse
  • Shirt Jacket With A Lining
  • Bodice
  • Dress
  • Suit Coat
  • O'Coat

  • When the full size pattern is completed, a sample must then be made. This sample garment
will be made out of Muslin sample fabric. This is to test and correct your pattern or sloper. This is the
correct procedure for all patterns you will make. Before any garment can be made,
you MUST follow all of the outlined procedures.

Different variations (styles) for these drafts will be taught. It is from these patterns, that all styles that
exist are created. With the manipulation of these patterns, your creative ability will begin, and your
designing starts. Get ready, set, now GO and get busy Designing!
